Calendar Challenge - January

My friend Darcy is running a monthly calendar challenge whereby you buy a large square 2015 calendar and every month use prompts to alter it. I am a little late seeing as it is actually now (just) February, but I am hoping Darcy will let me off as it was finished yesterday but just not dry lol!!

This month the calendar started off looking like this. It's not too hideous really but we were told to get one that we don't hate as part of the original design will be incorporated every month. This month the prompts were to have crackle effect and use print on your page.

I started off with PaperArtsy Fresco paint in Sherbert and covered most of the background, barring the two focal butterflies, before putting Ranger Crackle Effects onto the butterflies. I then used a Dylusions stencil and Ranger Adirondack paint for the leaf border. The frames for the butterflies were cut using Nestabilities and they and the bookprint (from Fruit Pixie - they do great little packs of print and music sheets) were coloured with Distress Inks. I then used one of Darcy's own stamps from her PaperArtsy range to stamp the cogs in Fresco paint. It all looked a bit bright so I brushed over some Fresco paint in nougat to tone it down a bit. Some doodling and a  a stamped title finish it off.

Right - off to do February's page now!
